This tutorial will show you the basics of the new 3.o WordPress menu setup. This is a beginner tutorial for WordPress users.
Let’s get right to it.

The menu options are located in the Appearance tab of the left sidebar of the admin panel within wordpress. To access the menu options click the ‘Menu’ tab.
If you’d like to see the image at a larger size click on it and it’ll enlarge.
This is the menu options area for WordPress.
You can do whatever you’d like in this window without worry. Until you press the ‘save menu’ button. Then the updates take place.
This area is divided up into sections. The sections are theme locations, custom links, pages, categories, and the main menu section.
I’ll be explaining each of these sections individually. Starting with the Theme locations tab.
This section specifies what menu is use in the areas of your site. Many sites just have a primary navigation menu. Some sites utilize the secondary navigation menu.
This section is used after a menu is created.
This displays all of the pages you have made for your site. This section is used to put pages into your menu.
To put pages into your menu click on the boxes next to the pages you’d like to have displayed in your menu and then click the add to menu button.
This section works in a similar manner to the pages section. Rather than using a page it references the post categories. For example, if you were to add the web design category to the menu all of your posts with the category web design would be brought up when the user clicks that menu button.
6: Putting it all together
The main menu window is were you put it all together. Once you’ve filled it full of some pages and categories you can click on the the individual menu items and drag them in the order you’d like. You can also drag them on top of each other creating a drop down menu. If you’d like to change the way the button name looks in the menu click on the arrow pointing down and add you type!
If you have any question just ask.
