Emily Garcia (illustrator of Mifé Mouse) contacted us with the need for a children’s website featuring her character Mifé, the cuddly christian mouse. The site needed to be adorable, easy to use, playful, simple, and developed in a way that it can be updated simply in the future. We decided to use a pure vector layout in regards to any animation or UI elements on the site. This allowed for faster development time as well as faster loading time when you visit the site.
Prior to developing the actual Flash site we also took the entirety of Emily’s illustrations and re-drew them using optimized vector solutions. Since the illustrations were modified specifically for Flash the site runs smoother, loads faster, and animates without any delays or glitches.
Site Features:
- full liquid flash layout. This means 100% of the browser is the Flash website.
- 100% programmatic animations throughout the website. No scrubbing or tweening was used. This allows for a much smoother viewing experience.
- animated homepage with interactive characters and elements. When you visit the site click around on the illustrations to see surprise animations. For example, each of the flies in the bottom corners fly around the page when clicked.
- children’s message board. This custom application allows children to write letters to Jesus! Ya gotta try it:)
- custom vector illustrations (optimized from Emily Garcia’s original images for better flash integration)
- Night and Day site design. (click the sun to see the site change!)
- modifiable sub pages and additional content
- MP3 player
